Doximity, an online medical network with over half of all US doctors as members, and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), the medical society representing the fastest growing specialty in healthcare, announced today a partnership to better serve the population of US hospitalists. By combining their clinical and digital strengths, SHM and Doximity will provide hospitalists better tools to collaborate and care for their patients.

Hospitalists are in the unique position of coordinating care between multiple clinicians – including primary care. For SHM President Robert Harrington, MD, SFHM, the new relationship with Doximity empowers hospitalists to better integrate with their patients’ broader care teams.

“Hospital medicine is a team sport. Today, SHM and Doximity are strengthening the connections between the players,” said Dr. Harrington. “These connections are now more important than ever to provide the best possible care for hospitalized patients. That’s why SHM is so excited about the prospect of working with Doximity to better integrate hospitalists, primary care physicians and many others into the patient care team. Better integration makes hospitals and the communities they serve stronger and healthier.”

In addition to Doximity’s secure case collaboration tools, the new SHM Doximity partnership will enable hospitalists to include SHM’s fellows designations or SHM conferences on their Doximity profiles using the SHM logo. Additionally, hand-curated content from SHM publications will be integrated into Doximity’s DocNews channel, where hospitalists and clinicians interested in hospital care receive personalized medical news and research updates.

Hospitalists can look forward to added benefits in the future. Physicians interested in joining can visit Doximity at www.doximity.com or SHM at www.hospitalmedicine.org.
