StartUp Health, a global startup platform accelerating health and wellness innovation, today announced the addition of 16 digital health companies to its exclusive long-term coaching program and community.

The selected class of 16 “healthcare transformers” represents an experienced group of entrepreneurs focused on building sustainable digital health companies across a broad spectrum of innovation from home healthcare, genomics, aging, sensors, patient and physician engagement, mobile health and wellness, nutrition analysis, concierge medicine, care coordination and price transparency. To date, 63 companies have joined StartUp Health, three of which have been acquired, and the program’s portfolio has raised a total of $130 million.

A Three-Year Structured Program

StartUp Health Reveals New Class of 14 Healthcare Transformers

Each quarter, StartUp Health invites fewer than 20 companies to join its comprehensive three-year entrepreneurship program.  StartUp Health believes a three year structured program is the best approach to transforming healthcare to support and promote entrepreneurs with ongoing inspiration, education, and access to customers, capital, and other critical resources so that innovation and growth can occur more quickly.

One of the key differentiators is StartUp Health’s long-term focus on connecting health and wellness startups with customers, pilot programs, strategic capital partners, and the critical resources designed to help Healthcare Transformers achieve 10x equity value for their businesses.

Today, StartUp Health also announced that Nadeem Kassam, a member of StartUp Health’s inaugural class and the founder of BASIS Science, which was recently acquired by Intel, will join StartUp Health as its first “Healthcare Transformer in Residence.” His focus will be helping the current community of Startup Health companies and scouting the ecosystem for new startups.

This week, StartUp Health will host its quarterly Healthcare Transformer Summit in New York City and showcase its companies to some of the tech industry’s biggest brands, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Yahoo!, as well as nearly 300 health-focused investors, healthcare brands and strategic partners.
