Healthcare IT News Reveals Best Hospital IT Departments

This week, Healthcare IT News has announced the winners of their third annual 2013 “Where To Work: Best Hospital IT Departments” report, providing insight into workplace satisfaction. The report included analysis from 5,557 IT employees at 107 hospitals nationwide.

Key Findings

Key findings from this year’s report include:

  • Overall, 171 hospitals were nominated for the 2013 Where To Work: BEST Hospital IT Departments program. Of those, 107 participated in the study, and in the end, 83 were deemed eligible to be named a top hospital (at least half the employees in their IT departments completed the survey)
  • Of the 83 eligible hospitals, nine were in the super category (200+ IT employees), 15 were large (76-199 employees), 30 were medium (26-75 employees) and 29 were small (25 or fewer staff)
  • 37 percent of respondents were women and 48 percent men; 15 percent preferred not to say
  • 53 percent of respondents were between 35 and 54 years old
  • 91 percent were full-time employees
  • 54 percent earn between $50,000 and $99,000 annually
  • 5 percent earn more than $125,000

1. Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Elizabeth, NJ
2. Saint Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, MO
3. Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System, Mattoon, IL
4. Mercy Medical Center, Canton, OH
5. Intermountain Healthcare, Salt Lake City, UT
6. Self Regional Healthcare, Greenwood, SC
7. Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD
