Ultrahuman Partners with HealthEx to Integrate Clinical Health Records into Smart Ring Biometric Timeline

What You Should Know

  • Smart ring and wearable health technology company Ultrahuman announced the rollout of the HealthEx PowerPlug, integrating personal electronic medical records with continuous biometric streams from the Ultrahuman Ring.
  • The feature is powered by HealthEx, a consumer-directed health data platform that leverages the federally backed Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) to discover and retrieve longitudinal patient health records across nationwide health systems, outpatient clinics, and diagnostic labs.
  • The integration maps 532 clinical conditions, medications, and surgical procedures from electronic medical records directly onto the user’s daily biometric timeline inside the Ultrahuman app.
  • Continuous physiological telemetry—including resting heart rate (RHR), heart rate variability (HRV), skin temperature deviations, and deep sleep architecture—is displayed side-by-side with prescribed medications and formal diagnoses.

Longitudinal Clinical Data Mapped to Continuous Biomarkers

The HealthEx PowerPlug integrates directly into the Ultrahuman mobile app, utilizing federal interoperability rails to assemble a user’s clinical history alongside wearable sensor data:

  • TEFCA-Powered Medical Record Retrieval: After an identity verification step, HealthEx retrieves comprehensive patient records across hospitals, health systems, and specialty clinics nationwide using the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), without requiring users to manually log into individual patient portals.
  • Unified Timeline Across 532 Clinical Entities: Maps 532 distinct conditions, medications, and clinical procedures directly onto the Ultrahuman biometric timeline. Users can evaluate how new medication starts, clinical diagnoses, or medical procedures correlate with daily changes in resting heart rate (RHR), heart rate variability (HRV), nocturnal skin temperature, and deep sleep architecture.
  • Automated Missed Follow-Up Detection: Flags lapsed care intervals by evaluating timestamps in the medical chart. If a diagnosed chronic condition, abnormal lab value, or medication regimen dictates a periodic diagnostic check (e.g., repeat lipid panels, HbA1c testing, or specialist follow-up) that has not occurred, the app flags the overdue test to prompt a discussion at the next visit.
  • “Visit Pack” Clinical Summaries: Compiles an exportable clinical summary tailored for 15-minute physician consultations, combining current active medications, documented diagnoses, and wearable trend deviations with suggested questions and follow-up screening requests.

Commercial Model and Ecosystem Expansion

The integration introduces a recurring software revenue layer for Ultrahuman’s hardware ecosystem:

  • Subscription Pricing: Available for U.S. Ultrahuman Ring users inside the app’s PowerPlugs marketplace for $4.99 per month or $45.99 per year. (The standalone HealthEx Wallet, which aggregates longitudinal health records, remains free directly from HealthEx).
  • Roadmap Across Specialized Modules: Ultrahuman plans to expand HealthEx clinical record integrations into adjacent specialized PowerPlugs—including its Vitamin D, GLP-1, and Respiratory Health tracking modules—to correlate drug titration and respiratory events with recorded clinical histories.
  • Privacy and Governance Architecture: Positioned as an FDA-exempt general wellness software feature. Data sharing is opt-in, revocable by the consumer at any time, and governed by policies prohibiting the sale of health data, third-party advertising tracking, or unauthorized AI model training.

Consumer Wearables as Interoperability Nodes

The launch highlights a maturation in how consumer digital health interfaces with the formal healthcare delivery system. While first-generation wearables attempted to build walled-garden health dashboards, companies are increasingly leveraging federal data mandates (including ONC Cures Act rules and TEFCA Qualified Health Information Networks) to empower patients as their own health information exchange nodes. By contextualizing real-time sensor streams with verified EHR diagnoses, Ultrahuman moves beyond basic fitness tracking toward closed-loop health awareness that can inform clinical encounters.

“In the US, people visit multiple care providers a year, and key follow-ups and tests are missed because nobody has all the information they need,” said Mohit Kumar, CEO and Founder of Ultrahuman. “Our partnership with HealthEx fundamentally changes that. It puts crucial health records in one place, and adds context to Ring measurements”.
