What You Should Know

  • The Deal: The California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) has selected Eleos Health as its official AI partner. This is the behavioral health industry’s largest single deployment of AI technology to date, potentially reaching 27,000 clinicians across 27 counties.
  • The Tech: Eleos’ AI-powered documentation tools will be embedded directly into Streamline’s SmartCare™ EHR. The system uses the new Polaris AI model (built with Google Cloud) to listen to sessions and automate clinical notes, saving providers over 180,000 hours of admin time in previous pilots.
  • The Impact: This isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about survival. By reducing the administrative burden that leads to burnout, the partnership aims to free up public health teams to focus on “human-to-human connections” rather than data entry.

The “SmartCare” Integration

The rollout is not a standalone app; it is an infrastructure upgrade. Eleos will be delivered directly within Streamline’s SmartCare™ EHR, the integrated practice management platform used by many counties.

This integration allows clinicians to use Eleos’ ambient AI to capture session content and generate high-quality clinical notes automatically within their existing workflow. The impact is proven: in previous deployments with Streamline, the joint solution has supported over 4,000 professionals, helping them complete 1.6 million notes and saving 180,000 hours of administrative time.

The Scale: 27 Counties, Millions of Patients

The scope of this agreement is massive. 27 counties across California will have the option to utilize the combined solution. This potential rollout covers:

  • 27,000+ clinicians
  • Millions of individuals served

“These public health teams represent some of the most critical healthcare infrastructure in the U.S.,” said Alon Joffe, CEO of Eleos. “We are committed to reducing the administrative burden that so often leads to burnout.”

Powered by Polaris AI

Under the hood, this deployment utilizes Polaris AI, Eleos’ new foundational model launched in Fall 2025 in collaboration with Google Cloud. Unlike generic LLMs, Polaris is purpose-built for the nuances of behavioral health, substance use disorder (SUD), and hospice care. It is trained on a “diverse, clinically de-identified corpus of millions of minutes of therapy transcripts,” ensuring that it understands the context of a mental health crisis better than a standard chatbot ever could.
