What You Should Know:

–   The Clinic by Cleveland Clinic, a leading provider of virtual second opinions (VSOs), announced the expansion of Cancer Concierge by Cleveland Clinic—a program connecting cancer patients across the U.S. with expert oncology subspecialists.

–  The program, offered by The Clinic and its partner Amwell, expands on traditional VSOs by offering advanced subspecialty reviews, insight into innovative treatments and trials, cancer education content, and optional follow-up reviews. It aims to close gaps in geographic access to high-level oncology expertise, helping patients and their local providers personalize and optimize care.

Cancer Concierge by The Clinic: Expanding Access to World-Class Oncology Expertise Through Virtual Specialty Care

Each year, millions of Americans face life-changing medical diagnoses, often accompanied by complex decisions about treatment. In response to these pivotal moments, The Clinic by Cleveland Clinic—a joint venture between Cleveland Clinic and Amwell—was founded to provide patients with expert guidance and clarity through virtual access to leading medical specialists.

As a pioneer in virtual specialty care, The Clinic connects patients with over 3,500 Cleveland Clinic physicians across more than 550 subspecialties by leveraging Amwell’s industry-leading telehealth infrastructure. Among its most impactful services is Cancer Concierge, an innovative virtual oncology consultation program addressing the urgent need for accessible, high-quality cancer care. Cancer remains the top driver of healthcare costs for employers in the U.S., with annual expenditures approaching $200 billion.

Through Cancer Concierge:

·       Patients receive virtual consultations with Cleveland Clinic’s internationally recognized oncology subspecialists.

·       Comprehensive case reviews—including pathology and imaging analysis when requested—support more informed and personalized treatment plans.

·       Dedicated nurse advocates provide high-touch, empathetic care coordination, ensuring seamless and supportive experiences.

“Subspecialists with expertise in specific cancer types can dramatically improve outcomes and deliver better value,” said Frank McGillin, CEO of The Clinic by Cleveland Clinic. “Cancer Concierge offers patients peace of mind by providing access to elite expertise, while allowing them to continue care locally. It’s a higher-quality, lower-stress model that eliminates the need for travel.”

Initial results from participating health plans have been highly encouraging:

·       One health plan reported a 94% member satisfaction rate, with many consultations resulting in meaningful changes to treatment plans.

·       Based on optimized care recommendations, the program demonstrated an estimated 2:1 return on investment—showcasing both clinical and economic value.

Cancer Concierge reflects a growing shift toward digitally enabled precision care—expanding access to subspecialized oncology expertise, improving patient confidence, and supporting better outcomes without geographic barriers.
