AirStrip®, provider of mobile healthcare solutions for driving clinical transformation, today announced the formation of the AirStrip Innovation Advisory Board to be chaired by nationally recognized healthcare innovator Orlando Portale.
“AirStrip is recognized for a history of disruptive innovations, and with Orlando Portale at the helm of the Innovation Advisory Board, we will take a further leap forward. He will help us drive an expanded AirStrip ONE solution that includes connecting with and mobilizing disease-specific body sensors, additional clinical decision support (CDS) capabilities via advanced algorithms, and third-party analytics,” said CEO Alan Portela. “Orlando brings significant expertise to advise the company on priorities for driving ongoing advances in mHealth and to accelerate the next generation of AirStrip solutions.”
A nationally-recognized leader in healthcare transformation and technology, Portale has established a future-oriented agenda in mobile health, emerging care delivery models, and advanced technology. Most recently, he was the chief innovation officer at AirStrip’s innovation partner Palomar Health and previously held positions as general manager of the Global Health Industry with Sun Microsystems, department head of applied clinical informatics with the University of Michigan, executive director of mergers and acquisitions with WellPoint, and a senior advisor with SAIC.
Recently, Portale launched the world’s first medically focused wearable computing accelerator. In 2011, the San Diego Business Journal named him Technology Executive of the Year. Portale has served on numerous boards including at the Brookings Institution, the Department of Defense, Cisco and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and has lectured on strategic innovation at the University of California San Diego.
“The AirStrip Innovation Advisory Board will provide both the technological vision and the real-world experience in deploying mHealth innovations with an eye on having a transformational effect to patient care,” Portale said. “AirStrip ONE® is becoming the next-generation workflow visualization tool for aggregation and integration of multiple clinically relevant data types throughout the continuum of care. I look forward to supporting a number of planned strategic initiatives that will again shake up the industry and solidify AirStrip’s position at the forefront of the digital health revolution.”
