Health Tech VC Firm Expands To Drive Healthcare Innovation

Foundation Medical Partners, a health tech VC firm, led by General Partners Dr. Andrew Firlik and Dr. Lee Wrubel, announced that Bill Geary and Michael Greeley are joining as General Partners.

Based in the newly formed Boston office, Bill Geary, previously a General Partner at North Bridge Venture Partners, and Michael Greeley, most recently a General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners, are well known and respected in the healthcare technology industry. Each brings a deep background in investing insight, commitment to the success of entrepreneurs and experience in helping to build premiere venture capital firms.

The firm also named Kevin Sharer, former CEO of Amgen; Chris Kryder, Founder and former CEO of D2Hawkeye, which merged to form Verisk Health; and Tom Mac Mahon, former CEO of LabCorp as Executive Partners. The Executive Partners will serve as invaluable resources available to its portfolio companies.

Foundation Medical Partners currently manages over $200 million in venture capital, with a market capitalization of healthcare investments totaling over $2 billion. As the healthcare delivery shifts towards an value based model driven by healthcare reform initiatives, the firm’s investing strategy is focused on technologies and services that make this transformation possible. Industry segments of interest include:

Bill Geary

Bill Geary joins Foundation Medical Partners after a 20-year career at North Bridge Venture Partners. While at North Bridge, Bill focused primarily on healthcare technology and software, with representative investments including eBenX, Connance, Healthrageous, Humedica, Infomedics, Pharmetrics, SynapDx and Valence Health.

Bill serves on the advisory board of the Center for Connected Health at Boston’s Partners HealthCare System, the business advisory board of Joslin Diabetes Center, the technology development fund advisory board of Boston Children’s Hospital, the innovation advisory board of pharmaceutical company Boehringer-Ingelheim, and was the former Chair of the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, Boston College

Michael Greely

Prior to joining Foundation Medical Partners, Michael Greeley served as a Founding General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners where he led investments including BlueTarp Financial, MicroCHIPS, Predilytics, Predictive Biosciences, PolyRemedy, T2 Biosystems, TARIS Biomedical and VidSys. He also served on the board of International Data Group, the initial flagship Limited Partner for the IDG Ventures global network of funds. Michael is a member of the Investment Committee for the Partners Healthcare System Innovation Fund, and until recently served on the Executive Committee of the National Venture Capital Association and was a former Chair of the New England Venture Capital Association. He is currently Chair of the Massachusetts Information Collaborative.
