Interoperability is at the heart of the nationwide health IT effort. In this interview given by Michael J. Keegan, host of the Business of Government Hour, Dr. Farzad Mostashari breaks down the critical barriers to achieving the goal of nationwide interoperability, and the importance of effective governance.
Mostashari explains the challenges to interoperability are widespread and incredibly fragmented. He also points out that there must be a “need to share,” so the incentives of the different players in the healthcare ecosystem have to be aligned with sharing information.
