What You Should Know:

–VHC Health, a community-based health system providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, is proud to expand telehealth services through a strategic partnership with HealthTap, a tech-enabled virtual physician practice.

–  This collaboration will enable VHC Health patients to receive on-demand virtual urgent care services from board-certified physicians, further enhancing the continuity and convenience of care offered by VHC Health.

Expanding Access Through Integrated Virtual Urgent Care

VHC Health® is a 537-bed independent, not-for-profit health system serving the Washington, DC region, anchored by a nationally recognized teaching hospital. The organization delivers advanced, patient-centered care and continues to broaden access through an expanding network of primary and specialty care sites. Consistently ranked among Virginia’s leading health systems and recognized with Magnet® designation for nursing excellence, VHC Health is committed to meeting community needs with high-quality, technology-enabled care.

In this new collaboration, VHC Health patients gain direct access to HealthTap’s board-certified physicians through secure, on-demand video visits—eliminating the need for urgent care travel and creating a more responsive care pathway. These virtual visits allow physicians to diagnose and treat a wide range of common conditions, prescribe when appropriate, and coordinate follow-up with VHC Health clinics and specialists. For patients, this offers faster entry points into trusted care, reduces unnecessary emergency department use, and strengthens the connection between virtual and in-person services across the system’s coordinated network.

Christopher T. Lane, President & CEO of VHC Health, emphasized that this partnership advances the system’s mission to extend exceptional care wherever patients are. By integrating HealthTap’s established virtual urgent care capabilities, VHC Health creates round-the-clock access to licensed providers who can support patients beyond traditional clinic hours.

The launch represents HealthTap’s first formal partnership with a health system, building on prior collaborations with insurers, chronic-care companies, durable medical equipment providers, cost-sharing organizations, consumer brands, and pharmaceutical partners. HealthTap differentiates itself through its exclusive use of U.S.-licensed physicians and its adherence to rigorous clinical and operational standards, underscored by its Joint Commission telehealth accreditation. Beginning in December, VHC Health patients will be able to use the HealthTap platform for on-demand urgent care, fully integrated with the system’s digital health infrastructure to maintain continuity of records and coordinated care.
