What You Should Know:

–  Intelerad, a global leader in medical imaging software solutions, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced an expanded strategic alliance to deliver a unified, cloud-native medical imaging infrastructure.

– The collaboration is centered on adopting AWS HealthImaging, a HIPAA-eligible service, as a core component of Intelerad’s platform to help healthcare organizations store, transform, and share medical imaging data at petabyte scale.

Redefining Enterprise Imaging with Cloud Architecture

This strategic alliance is aimed at redefining the future of enterprise imaging. Intelerad is leveraging AWS HealthImaging to build a multi-tenant architecture hosted entirely on AWS. This initiative will consolidate key infrastructure components—including Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), and image-sharing workflows—into a single, unified backend designed for enterprise-scalability.

“Together with AWS, we are developing a cloud-native, integrated solution that will deliver scalability, resilience, and interoperability,” said Jordan Bazinsky, CEO of Intelerad.

Accelerating Access and Reducing Operational Costs

The transition to a unified, cloud-native architecture is expected to deliver measurable operational and clinical benefits for healthcare providers:

  • Faster Data Access: The platform will enable healthcare organizations to stream medical images directly from cloud storage with low latency, significantly reducing delays and costs caused by traditional data transfers.
  • Reduced IT Costs: Providers can expect reduced IT operational costs and simplified infrastructure management by shifting the burden of managing infrastructure to AWS.
  • Improved Reliability: The consolidated system aims to deliver improved system reliability and prepare organizations for future growth.

Catalyst for Future AI and Innovation

Beyond operational efficiency, the collaboration serves as a catalyst for future innovation. Intelerad’s platform will feature modern application programming interfaces (APIs) to support secure sharing of imaging data across organizations and seamless connectivity with other systems. This modern infrastructure is essential for preparing healthcare organizations for the future, serving as the catalyst for future AI-driven workflows and advanced data sharing. Intelerad’s strategy is built on providing cloud-native, interoperable solutions that help healthcare organizations leverage the latest advancements in medical imaging technology.

Dr. Rowland Illing, Global Chief Medical Officer at AWS, noted, “We are helping healthcare providers deliver patient care faster and more efficiently by taking on the work of managing infrastructure.”.
