Broad Institute & Manifold Partner to Develop AI Research Platform

What You Should Know:

– The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is collaborating with Manifold, a leader in AI-powered research infrastructure, to develop a next-generation platform for biomedical research.

– The strategic partnership aims to enhance data analysis, secure sharing, and global collaboration, empowering scientists worldwide to accelerate discovery.

Manifold: Accelerating Biomedical Research with AI

Founded in 2016, Manifold’s AI-powered platform streamlines biomedical research by automating manual tasks in data collection, organization, governance, and analysis. This allows researchers to focus on scientific discovery, unlocking the full potential of their data without technical barriers.

Building on the success of Terra, a trusted platform for large-scale data analysis, the new platform will address the evolving needs of modern life sciences research. It will incorporate advanced capabilities while upholding Terra’s core values of secure sharing, global collaboration, and responsible data stewardship.

Enhanced Capabilities for a New Era of Research

The new platform will introduce several key enhancements:

  • Bring Your Own Cloud: Offers flexibility for researchers to work within their organization’s cloud strategy.
  • Enhanced Scalability: Accommodates the growing volume and complexity of biomedical data.
  • Data Harmonization: Seamlessly integrates diverse datasets while ensuring data ownership and control.
  • Purpose-Built AI Agents: Provides advanced capabilities like natural language search, cohort building, and automated analysis.
  • Improved Data Discovery: Simplifies data exploration and interpretation with visualizations and semantic search.
  • Trusted Data Sharing: Enables secure collaboration across institutions with fine-grained access controls and audit trails.

The platform will foster a global community of scientists, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing. This will democratize access to innovative pipelines and methodologies, empowering researchers worldwide to analyze complex datasets and accelerate discovery.

“Manifold and Broad are redefining the future of biomedical research with a new platform that advances the principles of Terra while setting new standards for innovation and accessibility,” said Vinay Seth Mohta, CEO of Manifold. “By combining Broad’s expertise in biomedical science with Manifold’s technical leadership, we are removing barriers to progress and enabling researchers to work faster, smarter, and more collaboratively than ever before.”
