What You Should Know:

– Tandem Diabetes Care, an insulin pump manufacturer, has announced expanded compatibility for its t:slim X2™ insulin pump in Canada.

– In-warranty users can now integrate their pumps with both the Dexcom G7 and Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems, providing greater flexibility and choice for diabetes management.

– The expanded compatibility with Dexcom G6 and G7 further enhances the pump’s capabilities and provides users with greater choice and flexibility in their diabetes management.

Enhanced Choice and Flexibility

This update makes the t:slim X2 pump the first and only insulin pump in Canada compatible with both Dexcom G6 and G7. This offers users the freedom to choose the CGM system that best suits their needs and preferences.

Benefits of Dexcom G7 Integration

  • Faster Warm-Up: Dexcom G7’s 30-minute sensor warm-up time, the fastest on the market, allows users to spend more time in closed-loop mode, experiencing the benefits of automated insulin delivery (AID).
  • Smartwatch Compatibility: Users who pair Dexcom G7 with an Apple smartwatch can view their glucose levels directly on their wrist, providing greater convenience and accessibility.

Seamless Upgrade for Existing Users

Tandem will provide all in-warranty t:slim X2 users in Canada with instructions on how to add the new compatibility feature free of charge through a remote software update. New t:slim X2 pumps will also begin shipping with the updated software in early January 2025.

“Through our continued partnership with Tandem, we have seen the proven benefits of automated insulin delivery. We’re proud that people living in Canada can now access the latest AID offering with Dexcom G7, our smallest and most accurate CGM2,” said André Côté, executive vice president and general manager of Dexcom Canada. “Our two organizations hold the same core value: foster technological innovation that leads to a better life for those living with diabetes. We couldn’t be more pleased to officially bring this offering to Canadians.”
