Riverside University Health System (RUHS) and PMB broke ground on an unprecedented project, The 445,000 SF Wellness Village in Mead Valley, that will transform healthcare by integrating the behavioral health continuum of care into a single environment combining medical care, behavioral health, and social services.

What You Should Know:

– Riverside University Health System (RUHS) and PMB broke ground on an unprecedented project, The Wellness Village in Mead Valley, that will transform healthcare by integrating behavioral health treatment with medical care and social services.

– Slated for completion in 2026, The Wellness Village will serve as a beacon of hope for those seeking treatment. PMB, a leader in healthcare real estate development, is proud to champion this public-private partnership. “The Wellness Village reflects the entire continuum of care,” says Ben Rosenfeld, PMB’s SVP of Development and Lead Developer on the Project. “By combining medical care, behavioral health services, and social services in a single, accessible location, we are creating a model for integrated healthcare delivery across California.”

Addressing Critical Needs

Located at the intersection of Harvill Avenue and Placentia Avenue, the 18-acre campus will not only provide crucial services but also generate economic benefits through job creation and tax revenue. The project team, including PMB as developer, Boulder Associates as architect, Snyder Langston as design-builder, and PMB Real Estate Services as property manager, is committed to delivering a high-quality facility that meets the community’s needs.

One of the most critical aspects of The Wellness Village is addressing gaps in mental health services. It will feature Riverside County’s first mental health urgent care center and crisis residential program specifically designed for children under 13. This will be a significant step forward in providing timely and comprehensive care for young people.

A Spectrum of Services

The Wellness Village goes beyond immediate crisis intervention. It will provide a comprehensive range of services to support recovery at every stage, including:

  • Urgent behavioral health treatment
  • Supportive housing
  • Residential and outpatient care
  • Primary and specialty medical care
  • Dental services
  • Substance use disorder treatment
  • Pharmacy (open to the public)

Specialized Programs Cater to Diverse Needs

The campus will house several key programs designed to meet the specific needs of different populations:

  • Youth and Family Care Center: Offering outpatient care, children’s crisis residential programs, short-term residential therapeutic programs, and accommodations for families with children in treatment.
  • Wellness and Education Center: Providing intensive outpatient programs for substance use prevention and treatment, perinatal care, children’s eating disorder programs, primary care, dentistry, imaging, and a pharmacy.
  • Recovery Center: Featuring adult and youth behavioral health urgent care, a sobering center, crisis residential treatment, and residential substance use disorder treatment and detox programs.
  • The Residences: Offering supportive housing, recovery residences, and residential behavioral health programs.
  • Restorative Care: Featuring an adult residential facility and a mental health rehabilitation center.

A Focus on Holistic Healing

The Wellness Village recognizes the importance of a holistic approach to healing. Beyond traditional treatment, the campus will offer amenities that foster community interaction and well-being, such as:

  • Green spaces and gardens for relaxation and meditation
  • Sports courts and an activity lawn
  • Public market and café
  • Community meeting space for local events and activities
  • Pet boarding services
"The Wellness Village in Mead Valley will serve as a model for integrated healthcare delivery across California. PMB, as a healthcare real estate developer that is 100% focused on the continuum of care, is proud to lead a public-private partnership for this project that reflects the behavioral health continuum of care by combining medical care, behavioral health, and social services into a single environment," says Ben Rosenfeld, PMB's SVP of Development and Lead Developer on the Project.
