Transforming Behavioral Healthcare: WellSpan’s Collaboration with Concert Health
WellSpan’s collaboration with Concert Health will enhance the comprehensive suite of behavioral health services already provided through WellSpan Philhaven, including inpatient services, intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization programs, telemedicine, behavioral health specialists embedded in emergency departments, and residential care. This partnership ensures patients receive care when and where they need it, contributing to a 50 percent decrease in the number of patients seeking behavioral healthcare in WellSpan emergency departments, according to recent data.
Through this partnership, Concert Health will engage with referred WellSpan patients within 24-48 hours, monitoring symptoms and medications, and providing evidence-based counseling interventions. Concert Health’s psychiatric providers will offer WellSpan primary care providers a holistic view of their patients by regularly reviewing cases and providing feedback and guidance to both the behavioral health team and the primary care providers. This integrated approach will be accessible to patients through the MyWellSpan patient portal for ease of use.
Concert Health’s commitment to driving strong clinical outcomes is evident in its collaborative care model, having treated nearly 100,000 patients with half experiencing at least a 50 percent decrease in anxiety or depression symptoms (PHQ9 or GAD7) within 90 days. Patients report high satisfaction, reflected in a 72 net promoter score. Moreover, Concert Health has conducted nine peer-reviewed studies to rigorously measure and report collaborative care outcomes. Recently, Concert Health announced a $2.5 million funding grant in partnership with the University of Washington School of Medicine AIMS Center to treat 2,700 patients with bipolar disorder and PTSD in medically underserved areas and populations.
“We’re excited to partner with WellSpan and proactively address the behavioral health crisis with our collaborative care model, embedding evidence-based treatment within primary care,” said Spencer Hutchins, co-founder and CEO of Concert Health. “Our patient-centered approach aligns with WellSpan’s goal to ensure their primary care providers can seamlessly and effectively deliver whole person care to their entire panel of patients.”
