Liverpool Heart, Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Extend Allscripts Sunrise Partnership

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (LHCH) has extended its partnership with Allscripts as its future partner for another five consecutive years with an expanded use of Sunrise suite of electronic patient record (EPR) solutions. Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital provides specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine including adult cystic fibrosis, and diagnostic imaging, both in the hospital and throughout the community.

Since EPR was deployed, the hospital has been rated one of the top Trusts for Clinical Digital Maturity Index (CDMI), a benchmarking tool that indicates the Trusts ability to effectively use information technology to improve patient safety and outcomes. LHCH is the first specialist Trust in the United Kingdom, Chesire and Merseyside to be rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

Allscripts Sunrise is a fully-integrated platform that supports all core care venues with a single platform and single patient record. The solution comprises functionality spanning investigation requests and results, clinical documentation, electronic prescribing and medicines administration to clinical decision support and workflow management. These features are used across inpatient and outpatient settings optimizing the delivery of safe and efficient care.

The use of Sunrise at LHCH has contributed to many benefits including supporting a sustained 63% reduction in hospital acquired pressure ulcers and enhanced infection control through standardized documentation and audit tools.

“LHCH have optimized the Sunrise suite of solutions to deliver exceptional care on paperless wards,” said Vice President and Managing Director of Allscripts UK, Steve Brain in a statement. “I am delighted that LHCH re-committed to remain with Allscripts for another 5 years and to continue the strong partnership. We are committed to assisting LHCH with their mission to improve Quality and Patient Experience, supporting the Enhancement of Service Delivery, Research and Innovation to help drive their vision “to be the best – leading and delivering outstanding heart and chest care and research”.
