Medsphere OpenVista EHR

Medsphere Systems Corporation, a provider of affordable and interoperable healthcare information technology (IT) solutions and services, today introduced a new Scheduler tool for the company’s eEHRs.

The Medsphere Scheduler will enable improved and integrated organizational function at client hospitals and physician practices by simply making the scheduling process more intuitive for patients and facility support staff.

The Scheduler effort demonstrates the flexibility and usefulness of public domain source code. Evolving from an application Medsphere originally created for a government client, Scheduler is now a core component in Medsphere’s inpatient OpenVista® and ambulatory ChartLogic EHRs. The same government project also animates work Medsphere contributed to the VistA Scheduling Enhancement (VSE) tool the VA is rolling out now to agency hospitals and clinics.

“An integrated scheduling tool streamlines facility functions and gives our clients a single EHR solution that provides much more than clinical support,” said Medsphere CEO Irv Lichtenwald. “The development of Scheduler is also a great example of how collaboration and repurposing code can save multiple millions of dollars for the federal government and the broader healthcare system. We’re quite proud of the impact we believe this project will have.”
