Mount Sinai Health & Edison Nation Medical Collaborate to Commercialize Medical Devices

Edison Nation Medical, a marketplace for healthcare and medical device innovation has announced a partnership with the Mount Sinai Health System. Edison Nation Medical will work closely with Mount Sinai Innovation Partners (MSIP), Mount Sinai’s technology development and commercialization group, to prioritize and bring to market medical device and consumer related healthcare inventions from the Mount Sinai community.

Partnership Details

This collaboration highlights the significance of public-private partnerships within the new healthcare landscape to deliver innovations to patients. Traditional early stage technology commercialization efforts at large institutions rely on seasoned research faculty to deliver novel ideas and concepts that will have a positive impact on public health. Through this partnership, Mount Sinai and Edison Nation Medical look to expand innovation beyond the laboratory by encouraging constituents from across the health system including primary care and clinical service personnel to share new inventions.

“MSIP is excited to introduce Edison Nation Medical to our institution,” stated Erik Lium, PhD, Vice President, Mount Sinai Health System and Executive Director MSIP. “It is a great opportunity to engage with additional stakeholders outside of the traditional research environment who contribute to our innovative culture and have a positive impact on the future of healthcare.”

Since its inception, Edison Nation Medical has worked with individuals, early stage start-ups, and institutions to capture innovation and improve healthcare globally. Serving as a healthcare innovation marketplace, Edison Nation Medical matches inventors, entrepreneurs, and universities with potential manufacturing partners who desire access to a steady stream of fully-vetted innovations. Under the terms of this agreement, MSIP will submit appropriate inventions in the clinical tool and medical device spaces to Edison Nation Medical, adding value to MSIP’s innovation evaluation, prioritization and development processes.

“Leading research institutions like Mount Sinai generate a significant volume of high-quality innovation,” said Robert Grajewski, President of Edison Nation Medical. “At Edison Nation Medical, we have the infrastructure and expertise to handle innovation at scale, and we’re thrilled to work with MSIP to help them efficiently translate devices and consumer related healthcare products from concept to marketplace.”
