M*Modal Will Receive Approval to Emerge From Chapter 11

After successfully emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy M*Modal, provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding solutions has announced that it has partnered with athenahealth’s More Disruption Please (MDP) program. The partnership will make M*Modal’s Fluency Direct and Fluency Flex mobile solutions available on the athenahealth MDP Marketplace, and together the companies will work to link athenahealth’s growing network of more than 52,000 care providers with these solutions.

M*Modal offers two clinical documentation solutions on the athenahealth Marketplace:

M*Modal Fluency Direct is a single cloud-based enterprise documentation platform that uses Speech Understanding™ technology to translate and produce medical documentation from spoken words. The solution is designed to “speech-enable” existing health information systems with medical narrative dictation capabilities within third-party applications, helping providers maximize productivity within their electronic health record (EHR).

M*Modal Fluency Flex Mobile is an iOS-based medical dictation app that enables healthcare providers to dynamically dictate and review notes during patient encounters or on-the-go. As part of the M*Modal Fluency for Transcription™ speech engine, the app captures high-quality audio which is securely transmitted for fast text conversion and transfer to an EHR.

More Disruption Please Program Overview

Through the MDP program, athenahealth is accelerating high-value innovation via the cloud, providing new services to help providers thrive in the face of industry change and pressure. MDP partners with innovators, entrepreneurs, companies, investors, and individuals—those who are passionate about overthrowing established approaches in health care that simply aren’t working, aren’t good enough, or aren’t advancing the industry. Unlike other health care startup incubators, MDP invites qualified companies like M*Modal to gain access to the more than 52,000 providers that are already plugged into athenahealth’s cloud-based network.
