How do we utilize digital health to prevent chronic disease and save our healthcare system? Why are we wasting trillions of dollars on preventative medicine?

Camille Saltman, President of MD Revolution shares her thoughts on digital health and whether it can end America’s chronic disease epidemic at this year’s TEDxUCSD 2013. The theme for this year’s TEDxUCSD was innovation and tradition.

In her presentation she breaks down four big pillars that will be important to the transformation of medicine:
1. Traditional medicine
2. Genomics & Metabolics
3. mHealth & Big Data
4. Nutrition and Fitness

Camille Saltman is the President of MD Revolution. She provides strategic direction and oversight of all business development and operational activity and helps formulate and drive key business strategies across all areas of the business. Camille was previously President of CONNECT and continues to be a member of CONNECT’s board of directors.

Over Camille’s six years with CONNECT she rebuilt the organization’s world renowned Springboard program and established the Look Near First initiative to keep outsourcing and manufacturing in San Diego — an initiative recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative. She also co-founded the Wireless Life Sciences Alliance and was President for 6 years; CleanTech San Diego, now ranked one of the top 10 clean tech cluster organizations in the US; and San Diego Sports Innovators, headed by NBA Legend Bill Walton.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
