Cigna partners with Audax Health to create digital health engagement platform that seeks to make health-related activities a fun part of everyday life.

Cigna announced a five-year strategic alliance with digital health company Audax Health to develop a customized digital engagement platform designed to help millions of Cigna customers improve their health through fun and engaging health related activities and information. With this agreement, the Audax Health platform will be a key player in Cigna’s suite of customer health engagement tools.

In addition to working together to create a distinctively engaging user experience, Cigna has committed to a capital investment in Audax Health as well as a deployment of the platform to its medical customers, and Cigna Executive Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer Mark Boxer has been appointed to the Audax Health Board of Directors. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“The power of Audax Health is that digital personalization, social networking, gamification and analytics can turn a mundane or onerous task into something positive, fun and rewarding,” said Cigna’s Mark Boxer. “Together, Cigna and Audax Health will develop a powerful platform to engage, educate, motivate and reward individuals to improve their health and health benefits.”

“This partnership creates an unmatched platform approach to consumer health management,” said Grant Verstandig, founder and chief executive officer of Audax Health. “We recognize that there is no silver bullet in health care and that managing health doesn’t just happen at the doctor’s office. We want to deliver a social, accessible, and personalized experience aimed at engaging consumers in the pursuit of a healthier lifestyle.”

“Cigna has long been ahead of the curve when it comes to engaging customers in new, innovative ways,” added Verstandig. “With Mark comes a unique focus on innovation, making him an invaluable addition to our Board. I personally look forward to co-creating a one-of-a-kind experience that will help Cigna strengthen relationships with its customers.”

Cigna is committed to helping customers improve their health, well-being, and costs by supporting each individual with guidance, tools and information designed to make health a fun and interesting part of everyday life.
