SnapMD, a full-service telehealth technology innovator and solutions provider, announced that the National Center for Telehealth at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) has chosen SnapMD’s Virtual Care Management (VCM) software as its system-wide telehealth technology platform. As a telehealth trailblazer that has been providing high-quality health care through virtual visits for over 14 years, UMMC brings deep experience and knowledge to the telehealth marketplace, specifically in remote care focused expertise. This news follows the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recognition for UMMC’s Medical Center as one of two Telehealth Centers of Excellence, the agency’s top award given to programs at public academic medical centers.
The Center for Telehealth connects patients and caregivers to health care providers remotely, in real time, using virtual visits and interactive tools. Using SnapMD’s comprehensive, secure, scalable telehealth platform, UMMC can offer telehealth in more than 35 specialties, and tele-emergency care with emergency departments in 17 rural Mississippi hospitals. In total, the health system connects with more than 200 health care locations across the state, accounting for 500,000 patient visits in 69 of the state’s 82 counties.
