Medfusion, Inc., a patient engagement platform dedicated to facilitating the relationship between doctors and patients has raised $3 million in funding from two Durham, N.C.-based venture capital firms.
Medfusion has evolved from a patient portal business into a robust patient engagement platform, complete with a new portal interface, a patient-focused revenue cycle offering—Medfusion Pay—and the introduction of Medfusion’s first consumer mobile application, Medfusion Plus. This new mobile app allows patients to aggregate their disparate health records, as well as those of their family members, on their mobile devices. Other key features include:
A recent KLAS report cited Medfusion as one of the most effective at helping their customers drive patient portal adoption. The KLAS report entitled Patient Portals 2015: Adoption beyond Meaningful Use revealed over half of Medfusion customers reported at least 20% of patients have accessed the portal–a number well beyond the meaningful use bar of 5%.
In 2014, Medfusion filed a lawsuit against Allscripts seeking actual and punitive damages in the millions.The lawsuit states that Allscripts owes Medfusion $4.5 million in payments and was responsible for an order backlog that cost the company more than $10 million.
